Project Midnight, Our 2011 Duramax LML Test Truck

Project Midnight is the name of our 2011 Duramax LML test truck. We plan on testing many products on Midnight, writing reviews, doing install videos, and showing real dyno results that will be posted to this section of our website.

Project Midnight Introduction: Thoroughbred Diesel purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Duramax in the spring of 2011 for the purpose of testing various product for fuel economy and horsepower gains. The first 5000 miles provided a break in period in which the truck was driven for daily travel purposes. No modifications were made during this time; however, with the break in period complete, it is now time for serious testing. 

Once the truck is modified, it will undergo a series of tests, unloaded and loaded with a 10,000lb. trailer. Dyno runs and hand calculated mpg results will help evaluate the fuel economy and horsepower gains. This information along with our opinions as to the pros and cons of each product will be shared with you, our valued customer so you can make an informed decision on the modifications you would like to make on your own truck. 

Specifics of the 44 mile test drive includes:

• Interstate driving; avg 70-72 mph
• In town driving with stop and go conditions; avg 55-60 mph
• A ¾ mile long hill at a 4% grade
• Dyno runs will be completed in house at Thoroughbred Diesel on our Mustang Dyno
