Helps engine produce horsepower at lower RPM

Thanks to a 45% reduction in pressure loss over the stock intake, air mass is increased into the turbo inlet. This denser air makes the turbo's job easier. Turbo lag is reduced and boost comes on sooner, widening the engine's working RPM range.

Not only does power come on sooner with the Ram-Air intake, but the turbo spins nearly 3,000 RPM slower increasing its efficiency and longevity. Turbo life is increased because it’s spinning millions of revolutions less over its lifetime.

Patented Electronics

The ECM (Engine Control Module) in your 2024 Duramax monitors air mass and pressure so closely that any deviation from stock results in a check engine light

The new patented Banks Air Mass Control Module allows our engineers to design past this electronic limitation.

—U.S. Patent #11,193,441

Massive Airflow

In other words, all other competitive intakes must flow the same as stock past the Mass Air Flow sensor, whereas these stock airflow design constraints do not limit us.

Unrivaled Size and Capacity

The all-new Ram-Air cold air intake system's large organic shape eliminates all restrictions and turbulence to the turbo. The radical new design allows for a massive 58% gain in Mass Air Flow over the stock system.

The oversized filter has greater dust capacity giving you more miles between services and flows freely long after stock and competitors are clogged with debris.

The huge filter outlet smoothly tapers down providing the highest gains in air density.

Your Stock Intake is Restrictive

The 2024 Duramax OEM Air Box is a bulky multi-piece design with harsh bends, corners and is designed for dust collection, not performance. The air path is compromised by resonators and silencers in an effort to keep noise at a minimum.

While the factory design does have inlets that mate to the hood's air scoop, its square filter and S-shaped flow path induces turbulence and drag to the intake system lowering Mass Air Flow.

The Devil's in the Details

The new Banks Ram-Air system features a durable heat-resistant Cross-Linked Polyethylene enclosure with a smooth organic shape that maximizes cool air volume around the filter and maintains air density into the box itself.

The top hood scoop duct now dumps directly into the airbox chamber, improving the ram-air effect at speed.

A side fender inlet away from engine heat further lowers the pressure drop in the system while also letting you hear your turbo better

Exclusive Bellows Free Performance

Standard factory style bellows induce drag to the intake. This added turbulence affects the boundary layer on the inside of the intake reducing the effective diameter for air to flow through.

Banks' huge tapering intake elbow with exclusive bellows slide over the Banks Super-Tube allowing for free engine movement and unobstructed airflow into the turbo.

The elbow is made from EPDM synthetic rubber instead of silicone for greater environmental resistance and strength against damage or collapse under vacuum.

Air Mass Matters

The greater the air mass entering your engine, the less fuel your engine will consume. That also means less engine heat going into the engine oil and coolant system since it is working less hard to make the same horsepower. In other words, improved fuel economy and less stress on the engine itself!

Yes, airflow (CFM) is important, but if the system flows more air, and that air is hot, you'll likely see a loss in horsepower and more stress on your engine.

Pressurized, cool, dense air is the winning combination.

A Big Filter — Engineered Right

The Banks Super-Tube fits perfectly over the top of the filter which has an integrated collar to smoothly transition airflow from the air box and into the turbo with the lowest resistance and drag.

The massive filter sits angled down in the air box to discourage dirt and debris from getting wedged between the pleats and Its massive51in2filter outlet Filter has overtwicethe airflow area of any competitor.

Bigger is Better When Properly Engineered

While other brands go for bragging rights for the "biggest" by cramming more pleats into their filters, they end up designing one that gets clogged faster and flows less air.

Just having a big looking filter, does not mean it will perform the best.

Banks massive filter has an optimized ratio of filter surface area, pleat count, and media thickness allowing it to outflow every other filter tested while breathing evenly from all sides. Banks wins again.

About This Product

The Ram-Air intake system for the 2024 Duramax 6.6L removes restrictions, sharpens turbo response, and improves fuel economy by increasing air mass flow. Banks patented Air Mass Control Module allows the system to improve performance without setting a check engine light like other brands. 50-state emissions compliant.

Fitment Note Ram-Air Intake not compatible with 2025 Duramax. GM added a PCV sensor for the '25 model year. The forthcoming Ram-Air Intake for the '25 will include both the patented Banks Air Mass Control Module and a new Banks PCV Control Module.

Specifications

Brand new for the 2024 Duramax 6.6L platform, the Banks Ram-Air intake is a game-changer. With the 2024 model year Duramax engines, GM further tightened the allowable range for induction tuning with its new MAF sensor calibration. To counter this, Banks engineers designed a new patented Air Mass Control Module allowing an intake design to go beyond these limitations for truly unmatched airflow performance.

With a Big-Ass filter, huge induction tube and a unique bellowed silicone coupler to allow for engine movement while tapering down to increase air density, your Duramax will breathe easy and cleanly. Its enclosed airbox design keeps power-robbing heat away and attaches to the OEM hood and front ram air scoops for even better performance at speed on the highway. An extra side inlet opens up to the wheel well for fresh air and a strong induction note sound.

  • Do I Want An Oiled Or Dry Cold Air Intake System?

    Eric Schumann | 5/16/2019

When you think about cold air intakes, there are two main components to consider. First is air filtration. When comparing oiled filters to dry filters the oiled will always filter out more particulate than the dry filter will. The added oil allows the cotton fibers in the filter element to trap more particulate matter as the air passes through it. The downfall is that in dusty environments the oil filters tend to get dirty quicker than the dry filter will.

The second component to consider on a cold air intake is performance, or how much air flow it allows. From the tests that we have seen, there is no difference in air flow between an oiled filter or a dry filter, if they are both clean. However, as we stated before the oiled filter will catch more particulate and become dirty quicker than the dry filter will. As a filter becomes dirtier, its performance decreases due to excess particulate matter restricting the air flow. Therefore, a dry filter will provide more performance over a longer period of time than an oiled filter will.

For daily driven trucks we recommend oiled filters, unless the truck is driven in an extremely dusty environment. We feel that the extra filtration power added by the oil is worth sacrificing the 1 or 2 extra horsepower you might get from using a dry filter.
