The BD-Power 5" Remote Mount Exhaust Brake provides you with additional safety, comfort, and control of your vehicle. Descending grades can be dangerous and tricky, resulting in over heated service and trailer brakes, that leads to brake fade, excessive wear, and costly unwarranted repairs. BD Engine brake has been the industries time proven Variable Regulating Back-Pressure Exhaust Brake.

BD’s rugged cast-iron exhaust brake housing incorporates their exclusive AlumiBronze bushing and positive sealing piston ring, no blind holes for carbon and rust to form, and miles of leak free retarding. The stainless steel butterfly shaft that has proven to stand up under the harsh, high-heat conditions of the exhaust environment, the offset butterfly valve won’t stick, and has been strategically placed in the elbow so that it won’t impede exhaust flow when in the open position. The brake valve is actuated by an air cylinder.

How It Works:

Using BDs exclusive Variable butterfly Technology, providing peak retarding power throughout the engines rpm range unlike some models that rely on a hole/orifice within the butterfly to calibrate back-pressure only in the higher engine RPM.

Where It Mounts:

The universal in-line design mounts in the exhaust system between the engine and muffler, DPF, or cat. BD’s Butterfly is constantly exercising thus reducing the possibility of carbon and rust deposit forming that can cause premature wear and binding which can happen with other brands. Furthermore, no maintenance or lubrication is required providing miles of trouble free service.

Universal Fitment:

Because this brake simply mounts in-line it can be used in a wide variety of applications such as medium Duty trucks, motorhomes, diesel pickups and more. Some fabrication may be required for installation.

Tech Notes:

• Torque converter lockup controller not included.
• 4" ID brake valve is used with 5" exhaust adapters.
• Exhaust back pressure test gauge kit is recommended.
• For use on trucks with on-board air. Air Compressor not included.
• Brake controls connect to throttle pedal with accelerator pedal position sensor (APPS)
• Vehicles without accelerator pedal position sensor (APPS) will require 1300420 micro switch and a custom bracket will have to be made.
