It is not uncommon to see the thrust washer that rides on top of the 4C reaction ring gear fatigue and break at times into several pieces. When this failure occurs it results in catastrophic failure. This factory unit is also manufactured from plastic making it ineffective under high thrust loads.
Suncoast has redesigned this piece to help improve reliability and durability preventing future failures. This piece is manufactured from a solid piece of billet T6-6061 aluminum. This new Suncoast piece is also engineered with redesigned angled oil slots to improve fluid feed to the 4c clutches and greater load distribution versus the factory. this is an absolute must in any 68RFE transmission rebuild.
