The Bosch CP4 is the factory high-pressure fuel pump used on 2011 and newer 6.7L Powerstroke engines.
The concern isn't simply replacing a failed fuel pump. A major CP4 failure can contaminate other parts of the high-pressure fuel system, potentially turning a fuel pump problem into a considerably larger repair.

Installation time can vary considerably based on experience, available tools, truck condition, and how quickly you work. If you're uncomfortable working on a modern high-pressure diesel fuel system, professional installation is still a good option.
Fitment is another subject that repeatedly appears in the reviews.

For owners worried about turning their Super Duty into a science project, the consistency in these customer reviews is encouraging.

One of the advantages of the S&S DCR CP4 conversion is that the conversion does not require ECU calibration changes.
S&S developed the DCR version used in the Ford conversion to match the CP4 output curve so the truck can operate without a calibration change.
That means you don't have to install the DCR and then immediately find someone to change the truck's tuning just to make the fuel pump operate correctly.
Eddie specifically mentioned this after installing his conversion:
“Drop in conversion, did not have to change stock settings. Truck runs as good as new.”
That makes the DCR particularly appealing to owners looking for a CP4 replacement that maintains factory-like operation.
This one requires some clarification.
The DCR has 1,250 mm³/revolution displacement, approximately 25% more than the CP4.2.
However, simply installing the S&S DCR does not automatically increase engine horsepower.
The pump was developed primarily as a CP4 replacement with additional fuel-delivery capability, not as a bolt-on horsepower modification by itself.
Interestingly, Keith did notice a change in how his truck felt:
“Installed for a month sofar about 2,000 miles no issues and truck seems to have some get up.”
That's one owner's experience and shouldn't be interpreted as a guaranteed horsepower increase from the conversion.
The additional pump capacity can support increased fueling when an application calls for it, but installing a DCR by itself isn't the same thing as installing a performance tune.
Short-term installation reviews are useful, but longer-term feedback is even better.
Kyle S. gave us one of the most interesting reviews in the group because he didn't buy one DCR conversion.
He bought three.
