Product Details

Product Name: Fleece SureFlo Performance Sending Unit - 1998-2002 Dodge Cummins
Manufacturer: Fleece
Manufacturer Part #: FPE-SF-CUMM-9802
Thoroughbred Diesel Part #: FPE-SF-CUMM-9802
Fitment Notes: *For 1998 trucks, this sending unit will work for both 12-valve and 24-valve models. The stock sending unit in both cases will have a range between 20-220 ohms. ** For optimal performance, this product has been tested to work with aftermarket lift pumps including AirDog !!-5G with flow rates up to 220 GPH and Fass with flow rates up to 100 GPH.

PROBLEM: If you are running an aftermarket pump that is mounted external of the fuel tank, you will need to install a draw straw or drill your fuel tank to accommodate a sump. Each of these has some pretty significant drawbacks including the ¼ tank issues that result in cavitation of the pump when you draw air into the fuel system.

SOLUTION: SureFlo performance sending units are designed to work with aftermarket lift pumps and fits directly into your stock sending unit location. It features factory style quick disconnects to adapt your stock fuel lines at the tank, giving you the cleanest installation available, and requiring no cutting or drilling of the tank. SureFlo works by drawing fuel from, and returning fuel to, the bucket assembly at the base of the unit. This ensures you are always drawing fuel into your pump and not drawing air into the fuel system as well as eliminates the dreaded ¼ tank problems. The SureFlo bucket also incorporates one way check valves to allow fuel to easily flow in at lower levels.

Our SureFlo performance sending units are also a great alternative for trucks originally equipped without an in tank pump needing to repair a malfunctioning level sender or if you are simply looking to run your own custom fuel lines directly to the tank.

  • OEM style fitment that requires no tank cutting or drilling

Reviews

  • I bought the Fleece SureFlo Performance Sending Unit for 98-02 Dodge Cummins. And installing a Fass pump. Do I removed the hex cap for return but there’s a spring? Do I have to take it off or leave inside?

    Edgar juarez | 11/19/2025

There is a spring and poppet located under the hex cap. These components must remain installed when using the port as a secondary return.

  • Does it have 2 return ports? One for the engine and 1 for the pump? Are they threaded also and what size ?

    Kevin Rusch | 10/18/2025
    • Yes, you can add a return port, Universal -8 AN ports
  • what size is the draw straw ? 1/2 or 3/8?

    Don price | 6/1/2025

    1/2-Inch.

  • I have done research and I would like to confirm, the fleece sure-flow sending unit works with the Fass filtered lift pump. There is no need to drill the tank too run the Fass lift pump with the sure-flow sending unit.

    Jason Holman | 4/12/2025

Yes, part was designed for aftermarket lift pump installs.

  • Would this set up work on a ‘98 12 valve

    Brian Erik Jensen | 9/8/2024

Yes For 1998 trucks, this sending unit will work for both 12-valve

    and 24-valve models.

  • Does this fit the 36 gallon tank?

    Bo kassa | 4/19/2024

Designed to fit the OEM fuel tank.

  • I have a 2001 ram 2500 that is mostly stock. Interestingly enough it's a 2001 but it has a fuel filter housing from a 1999, so thats a bit odd not but not my question. The truck has the 1999 fuel filter unit, the OEM block mounted lift pump, and the OEM sending unit. Would you recommend the Fleece SureFlo Performance Sending Unit and an aftermarket external lift pump, or the Fleece PowerFlo in tank lift pump?

    JARED WRIGHT | 9/21/2023

This is more of a personal choice. either set-up would be an improvement over the stock lift pump.

  • Hi I was wondering if the Fleece SureFlo Performance Sending Unit part #FPE-SF-CUMM-9802, would work with a stock 01 24v cummins? I do plan to make some more power in the future. But for right now I just want a good replacement for the stock one, that will help keep my VP alive. Truck has an air filter and 5 inch exhaust currently. Thank you

    Vince Santilli | 1/26/2022

Yes, it is a good drop in sending unit.

  • Installed fleece sending unit in tank 2000. Dodge diesel connected airdog 4g150 pump runs get no fuel from tank tank half full. Try a different pump from tank to a can still no fuel from tank . Could fuel tube have came off? Hate to drop that tank again.

    Billy boyd | 4/9/2022

We have not had this issue before. You may have to recheck the install.
