If you are running an aftermarket lift pump mounted externally to the fuel tank, you will need to install a draw straw or drill your fuel tank to accommodate a sump. Each option has significant drawbacks, including quarter-tank issues that can cause pump cavitation when air is drawn into the fuel system.
SureFlo performance sending units are designed to work with aftermarket lift pumps and fit directly into the stock lift pump location. The unit features factory-style quick-disconnect fittings that connect to the stock fuel lines at the tank, providing a clean installation without cutting or drilling the tank.
SureFlo draws fuel from and returns fuel to the bucket assembly at the base of the unit. This helps ensure the pump continuously receives fuel instead of drawing air into the fuel system, eliminating the dreaded quarter-tank problem. The SureFlo bucket also incorporates one-way check valves that allow fuel to flow into the bucket easily at lower fuel levels.
SureFlo sending units for the 2017–2024 Ford Power Stroke do not contain a fuel pump and are intended only for use with an external, frame-mounted lift pump.
For a direct-replacement in-tank lift pump, use one of the following PowerFlo lift pumps:
