The variable vane turbocharger design used in diesels today to reduce turbo lag, emissions and increase power can also be used to slow you down. BD utilizes this technology by electronically closing off the turbine vanes which can create up to 130 retarding horsepower. This braking force will help to maintain your speeds on descents and curves, giving you better control of your truck and load.

The Variable Vane Exhaust Brake rotary switch offers three different modes including: Stock, Vane Control Only and Vane Control with Aggressive Downshift.

Easily and simple installs by plugging into existing factory ports any by mounting the rotary switch on your dash.

  • Are the 11-14 exhaust valve springs strong enough to withstand the back pressure? Other exhaust brakes I have installed in the past require a valve spring upgrade. Thank you.

  • I have a 2012 F350 draw with the 6.7L. This truck has 140,000 miles. Would it be safe to add this to a vehicle with high mileage?

  • Do you find this BD exhaust break works with a trailer hooked up? I installed one on my 2014 F350 and it works for a little while than it gives me a reduced engine power prompt and you lose turbo pressure. Works great without the 5th wheel but doesn’t help my problem of stopping much. If you have had this problem or know how to fix it I would greatly appreciated any information. Thanks Jim

    No, it will work in conjunction with the ecm to avoid high back pressures.
