Make the Most of Your Power Stroke's exhaust backpressure valve! BD's BrakeLoc connects to the EBPV control wire, turning the factory valve into an electronically-controlled exhaust brake. Note that, because the EBPV is activated hydraulically, there is typically a 2-3 second delay between the time the valve is actuated and engine retarding occurs. While the BrakeLoc is an economical alternative to an exhaust brake, it is NOT intended as a substitute. For quicker, more effective braking, we recommend a BD exhaust brake system, which utilizes our Variable Orifice Technology, and won't stick like the stock EPB valve can.

  • Cost effective solution of engine retarding for towing with the Ford PowerStroke by utilizing the OEM Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) valve

    Well, BD's BrakeLoc computer is designed to close the EBV valve on the Ford Powerstroke and will maintain convertor lock up until a pre-selected vehicle speed. The BrakeLoc improves retarding horsepower from 5 RHP, when the clutch is not engaged, to 200RHP when engaged.

  • How well does this work pulling a 15,200# 5th wheel? very interested for the price. I have a 2000 F-250 7.3 6 speed manual. Don't want to break the bank on the traditional brake exhaust. Thanks for reading.

  • Just wanting to make sure this will work on my truck. It is a 99 7.3L super duty turbo charger with a 6 speed manual transmission. It has been completely gone thru mechanically and new paint. I am setting it up to haul 10k fifth wheel RV.
