Are
your intercooler boots & hoses blowing off? This is a common problem
with the Ram Diesel especially for those who love high boost pressure.
Stock intercooler boots & hoses have been blowing off at as little
as 25 PSI which can ruin your day if you are racing at the track or
pulling that steep grade.
The RAM orifice
is calibrated to produce 50% more turbo boost on initial acceleration.
Now
available from BD, Silicone Nomex intercooler boots & hoses
that can hold up to 75 PSI and high torque t-bar clamps for a tight
fit.
The
Ram Orifice is calibrated to provide 50% more turbo boost on
initial acceleration. Due to the increase of more constant boost,
it is suggested that a performance air filter, such as K&N
or Accel, be installed in the vehicle to accommodate the extra
flow. The conventional air filter may collapse under the constant
flow.
Later version trucks and motorhomes, there is a 90’ barbed elbow
fitting located on the compressor housing of the turbo, just below
the air intake hose. Remove the rubber hose attached to this fitting
and replace fitting with our Orifice fitting. Reattach rubber hose
to new fitting.
On
earlier trucks and motorhomes, where there is no 90’ barbed
elbow on the turbo’s compressor housing, there is a tee fitting
on the top/rear housing of the injection pump. The tee fitting will
have two barbed fittings screwed into it, with rubber hoses running
to them. One of the hoses runs from the tee fitting over to the wastegate
on the turbo, remove this hose from the barb on the tee fitting, then
replace the barbed fitting from the tee with the Orifice fitting.
Reattach rubber hose to new fitting.
