One
of the things that many people want to do is have a transmission
that they can race on the weekends and still drive it everyday
without having to deal with harsh shifts driving on the streets.
With the transmission controller, we give you exactly that freedom.
During everyday driving, the lower settings will give you smooth
shifts during everyday driving, and at the track, the higher
settings will give you full throttle shifting that are quick
and crisp. Along with this you gain control over your torque
converter and can bring it on faster or later depending on your
driving style and likes.
The ATS Commander or Co-Pilot lockup controller provides control
over converter lockup in your vehicle. Factory computers are
programmed to disengage lockup under many conditions that often
inhibit the performance of the transmission.
With a Five Star Torque Converter
in place, unlocking the converter are no longer an issue thanks
to the HD construction of the Five Star.
Push button control
allows the driver to select the speed at which the converter
clutch will engage and disengage. With the power off, the
Commander reverts to factory control. Minimum speed for lockup
is approximately 18mph. This means that the engine will not
be killed by forgetting to unlock the converter clutch when
coming to a stop. The Commander offers better acceleration
and cooler running, as well as giving the user braking or
holdback (even without an exhaust brake). If an exhaust brake
is in place, the Commander has the ability to automatically
control the brake and converter clutch.
The ATS
Commander or CoPilot provide you the ultimate in push-button
control over when the torque converter locks up in your vehicle,
allowing you to select the vehicle speed where the torque
converter clutch will engage (lock up) and disengage. Your
truck's factory programming doesn't initiate lock up until
cruising speed and disengages lock up early under many conditions,
inhibiting your truck's performance. The Commander and Co-Pilot
resolve this issue by holding lock up offering better acceleration
and cooler transmission running temperatures.
With the
Commander or Co-Pilot turned on, minimum speed for lock up
is approximately 18mph. This safety feature removes worries
of killing or lugging the engine, as there's no manual switching
required to unlock the converter clutch when coming to a stop.
With the power off, the controller reverts to factory control
of converter lock up. By allowing the torque converter to
stay locked up, the controller provides some engine braking
even without an exhaust brake. The Commander or Co-Pilot compliment
an exhaust brake perfectly and integrates seamlessly into
any exhaust brake system by automatically commanding torque
converter lock up when the exhaust brake is energized. This
means a transfer of all of your exhaust brake's power to the
transmission, giving a much more significant impact at the
wheels. The ability to hold lock up during exhaust braking
makes a night & day difference in your exhaust brake's
end performance!!
