Got
a Diesel? Then you need an accurate Exhaust Gas Temperature, or "E.G.T."
measurement system. Why? Because diesels can develop so much exhaust
heat that they can self-destruct. To keep that from happening, you
must monitor and not allow excessive temperatures to occur.
All Hypertech tuning
for diesels is developed to keep the EGT at approximately
1350 degrees Fahrenheit, even when towing maximum loads. But
if you have made other modifications, or if you experience
a component failure (such as an injector malfunction, a common
occurrence) you need to know immediately if unsafe operating
conditions are occurring so you can back off and save your
engine, and serious damage to your wallet.
The HyperPAC and a Hypertech Temperature Module will not only
let you read your E.G.T., it will constantly monitor E.G.T.
even when you are not looking. The HyperPAC allows you to
set an upper limit for EGT, and if that limit is exceeded,
an audible alert will sound and a warning will appear on the
screen.
While the HyperPAC will constantly display your EGT, touch
the Record button, and your EGT will also be recorded to allow
you to review them at a later time (a handy feature if you
are racing or climbing long hills with a heavy load.)
The Temperature Module has a second connector to allow an additional
temperature (a second EGT from a dual turbo system, engine oil,
or transmission oil, to name a few). All you need is the correct
Hypertech sensor, which can be purchased from any Hypertech distributor.
