The
ATS Five Star Torque Converter is a revolutionary
torque converter that utilizes innovative Viskus Clutch Drive technology
while incorporating traditional technologies of conventional torque
converters.
The ATS Viskus Clutch Drive, along with the fluid-coupling portion
of the torque converter, share in the increase of transfer of power
through the torque converter. Unlike other torque converters that
rely only on fluid transfer from the impeller to the turbine via the
stator, the Five Star utilizes ATS's Viskus Clutch Drive technology
that transfers rotational energy from the engine to the transmission.
This Fluid Assist technology developed by ATS helps transmit energy
to the transmission in conjunction with the fluid-coupling section
of the torque converter. This Fluid Assist technology results in less
stress being placed on the torque converter while simultaneously enhancing
the fluid coupling of the torque converter making it more efficient.
This added efficiency means less mechanical energy is turned into
heat and less heat means that more power is transferred to the transmission.
At low speeds the ATS Viskus Clutch Drive design has more effect on
power transfer allowing for optimal stall speed. As the engine to
transmission RPM differential speed is increased the efficiency of
the torque converter increases. When the transmission input speed
is near equal to engine speed, fluid is reversed through the ATS Viskus
Clutch Drive. The reversal of fluid is commanded by the factory computer
or an external lock-up controller such as the ATS Co-Pilot. This fluid
reversal compresses the five clutch plates providing a 100% mechanical
engagement ensuring no plate slippage during lock-up even at power
levels in excess of
2000 foot pounds of torque.

is now possible with the innovation of the ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch

ATS
Commander has also been developed to provide control over
converter lockup in your vehicle:
Factory computers are programmed to disengage lockup under many conditions
that often inhibits the performance of the transmission. With a Five
Star(tm) Torque Converter and The ATS Commander in place, these non-lockup
torque converter situations are no longer an issue.
ATS
RETURN POLICY: ATS requires a 25% restocking fee on any returned
item. This is something at Thoroughbred Diesel we have know control
over but ATS enforces everyone to charge a 25% restocking fee on any
return and we like to be up front with our customers.
