ASM
HID systems are of superb quality and are among the best in
the industry hands down. We offer a manufacturer 2 year warranty
and we actually honor our warranty unlike other HID sellers.
Your ASM Lighting HID Conversion Kit is completely plug and
play, however, we require you seek professional installation
if you are not familiar with HID conversions and electronics.
There are many HID systems that once installed will create problems
with the car's computer. This can create bulb out or check engine
lights to go off. Our ballasts are designed to not do this.
So you are sure to get a great quality product. Our ballasts
are made to be weatherproof, shockproof, and even abuse proof,
so they will always work regardless what your car goes through.
What is HID/Xenon Lighting:
HID stands for
High Intensity Discharge. It refers to lighting technology that
relies on an electrical charge to ignite xenon gas contained in
a sealed bulb. One great advantage of HID lighting is that it doesn't
have a filament but instead creates light by igniting an arc between
two electrodes. HID lights get their name from the intense white
light produced by the electrical discharge. Halogen bulbs, which
have a filament, have a lifespan of about 250 hours (1 year). HID
bulbs are gas filled capsules that are rated for a life of 2500-8000
hours (3 to 5 years). Another fact is that they use only 35watts
of electricity, while stock Halogen Bulbs require 55 watts, thus
drawing less power than a vehicle's factory system.
HID lights get
their name from the intense white light produced by electrical
discharge. HID lamps are also called xenon lamps referring
to a gas inside the lamps. HID lights are currently used in
most sports arenas, stadiums and trains around the world.
Imitation bulbs sold in retail stores produce very scattered
and artificial light that is not as bright as normal halogens.
They are no match for the intensity, purity, and efficiency
of High Intensity Discharge headlights. ASM Lighting has spent
years in developing the best HID conversion kit on the market.
State of the Art Technology:
Our HID conversion
kit is a true bulb specific plug and play kit, which fits directly
into the headlight housing with no need to cut stock headlight wiring.
Installation simply requires connection of the wiring harness to
the stock headlight to the bulb's harness and then connecting the
wiring harness from the bulb to the HID ballast. The HID bulb then
installs back into the headlight housing. Detailed instructions
with full illustrations are included in every kit. There is also
a bulb replacement guide to find the proper bulb size that each
vehicle requires.
Many
people are easily fooled by their HID/Xenon system looks like. A great
example is that of "The Most Famous HID Ballast Ever Made."
Just because 2, 3 or 4 HID ballasts from different makers look the
same it does not mean that the contents are the same. Through the
few years of experience ASM Lighting has learned that many ballast
manufacturers have different "levels" of ballasts. At one
point a ballast company spoke about 4 levels. All ballasts looked
exactly the same. We were not able to tell the difference and neither
could the engineers if all 4 were mixed around.
SMT
and DIP components:
Many HID makers
will build their ballast PCB () with what are called DIP components.
The future of all electronic PCBs that are in all high-tech equipment
use solely SMT. SMT stand for surface mount technology and DIP stands
for dual in-line package.
DIP
and SMT ATMEL Processors:
The difference
is very clear. From the materials used to make them to how these
components are placed on the PCBs. This is a great was for HID manufacturers
to save money by stuffing there large HID ballasts with these DIP
components that have a much higher failure rate which is in part
due to the fact that they are all soldered on by hand! On the other
side we have the SMT components that are so small that they can
only by placed on the PCB by a special computer. This will ensure
that all components are placed in the exact same location every
time and the failure rate is much lower.
HID/Xenon
Bulb Quality:
The HID/Xenon
bulbs used by ASM Lighting have less than a .2% chance of failure
and that's not just because the components are all PHILIPS approved.
That's because the production line and process have been optimized
to ensure a perfect HID/Xenon bulb every time they are produced.
All of our bulbs and ballasts are tested for 24 HOURS before they
are shipped to our customers in order to ensure their operation
and that the systems operate safely. When ASM Lighting HID/Xenon
bulb fails it is usually traced back to the installer having touched
the glass or the customer when unpacking the bulb.
